Informatics and databases - 2019-20 - Exam modalities

The exam is written (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes), it covers all the topics presented during lectures, and it consists of multiple-choice questions and exercises. The exam aims to verify that the course objectives have been achieved, namely, that students have learned the basic concepts related to the relational data model and the relational query languages, with specific application to biological databases.

Registration to the course website

For accessing the lecture stuff, a student has to register to the course website. There is a registration period at the beginning of the course, and the registration deadline is communicated by the teacher during the first class. Students registered in this period and regularly attending classes can take the exam of 'Informatics and Databases' at the end of the course according to modalities illustrated by the teacher exclusively in class.

All the other students who wish to get access to the lecture stuff and who have not registered at the beginning of the course within expected deadline, can ask for the registration to the course website by sending an email to prof. Castano.

How to take the 'Informatics and Databases' exam in a regular round

The list of exam rounds is available in the Exams/Appelli menu item. To take an exam, a student i) MUST be registered to the course website (if not, see above), and ii) MUST be registered to the selected round using the following procedure. The student has to log in to the course website by using her/his UNIMI account ( After that, select Courses -> Informatics and Databases -> Exams/Appelli and follow the link “more info” aside to the selected exam date, then click on “Register”.

Registration of the final grade of 'Database and Exposure Scenarios' course

A student has to register using the SIFA procedure to the “Appello di verbalizzazione” of the course 'Database and Exposure Scenarios' ONLY WHEN s/he has both the grade of 'Informatics and Databases' and the grade of 'Statistics applied to epidemiology'. The ‘Appello di verbalizzazione’ of a certain exam round is open until one week before the date of the round tself.
